Israeli Stock Index Tumbles Most Since 2008

srael’s benchmark stock index plunged the most in almost 11 years after Standard & Poor’s lowered the U.S. credit rating and amid concern the widening sovereign debt crisis in Europe will stall global growth.
Israel Discount Bank Ltd. (DSCT), the country’s third-largest lender, skidded 10 percent. Nice Systems Ltd. (NICE) slumped the most since November 2008. All 25 shares in the TA-25 Index tumbled, pushing the gauge down 7 percent, the biggest decline since October 2000, to 1,074.27 at the 4:30 p.m. close in Tel Aviv. The index is near the so-called bear-market territory after retreating 19.9 percent from a record high of 1,341.89 on April 21.   - Bloomberg

More Racism in the Holy Land: Poorest tent city evicted in Israel

While tent cities sprung up throughout the country, the one in the poorest neighborhood of Tel Aviv only one to be evicted

=====

Two weeks ago young Israelis set up a tent city in the heart of Tel Aviv's richest neighborhood on Rotschild Boulevard. Since then similar tent cities sprung up throughout the country. On Sunday, residents in Tel Aviv's poorest neighborhood set up a tent city as well. The area, which includes the neighborhoods of Neve Sha'anan, Hatikva, Shapira, and Florentine are known for being the home of low income families, single parent households, and most recently, refugees and migrant workers. At 4:30 in the morning, the Ministry of the Environment removed the tents and confiscated them. Of all the tent-cities throughout Israel, this is the only one to be evicted.

(White) Christian Zionists lobbying US Congress

Thousands of Christians have been gathering today at the convention center in Washington DC to show their support for Israel. Some journalists who happened to be at the spot say, however, that the beliefs those gathering hold are quite declaratory. For instance, one Zionist pastor, who a US lawmaker has compared to Moses, has also been criticized for describing the Holocaust as fulfillment of divine prophecy. Also a large group of Christians are reportedly lobbying Congress on the behalf of his pro-Israel position. To talk more about the genuine motives of the Christian Zion supporters is Alexander Cockburn, editor of Counter Punch.

A Memo For Zionists

Flag of Israel with the Mediterranean sea in t...Image via Wikipedia
First, for the record, no American president has done for Israel what President Obama has done. U.S. military aid to Israel will reach $30 billion between fiscal year 2009 and 2018, an annual average increase of 25 percent over previous levels. America, under the leadership of President Obama, has given Israel the most modern and up-to-date weapons, billions more in loans that are turned into grants, and over $3.09 billion a year in military expenditures a year. That does not include the cost of the transfer of technical knowledge to the Zionist state. It is estimated that the American taxpayer gives Israel an average of $7 million a day. (See The Final Call May 3, 2011 article titled The Unholy Alliance between The United States and Israel). In addition, with America's help, Israel has become a nuclear superpower.  Read more...

That's a first. The ICC is after Muammar Gaddafi – a man who isn't black

Today’s announcement by the International Criminal Court that it will investigate Colonel Gaddafi’s crimes against humanity is kind of historic. Because Gaddafi is easily the least black person the court has ever shown an interest in. Up until now it poked its legalistic snout exclusively into what used to be known as the “Heart of Darkness”, but which these days, due to the demands of PC, is referred to as “Africa’s trouble spots”. It has investigated five countries: Sudan, Uganda, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya (NB: the Serbs faced the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia). By turning its Dark Continent-obsessed gaze to Libya, and visiting its moral disapproval on a North African leader, the ICC has dragged itself, if not into the twenty-first century, then at least from the nineteenth into the twentieth.  Telegraph Blogs

Racist History of the ICC - Columbia Encyclopedia
The ICC inaugurated its first investigation in 2004 when it began looking into crimes in Congo (Kinshasa) and Uganda. Its first arrest warrants were issued (2005) for five leaders of the Ugandan rebel Lord's Resistance Army, which was accused of causing nearly 20 years of conflict. In 2005 the United Nations voted to refer war crimes cases in Sudan's Darfur region to the ICC, and the subsequent issuing (2009) of a warrant for the arrest of Sudan's President Omar Ahmed al-Bashir in connection with war crimes and other offenses in Darfur has been the ICC's most notable action. Among its other significant cases is that of former Congolese rebel leader and interim vice president Jean-Pierre Bemba, who was arrested (2008) in Belgium and is facing trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity, accused of leading rebels in a campaign of torture, rape, and murder in the Central African Republic. ICC judges also have authorized (2010) the investigation of those responsible for murder, rape, and forced displacement in the ethnic violence that followed the 2007 elections in Kenya.

Additional information about the International Criminal Court
By 2002 China, Russia, and the U.S. had declined to participate in the ICC, and the U.S. had campaigned actively to have its citizens exempted from the court's jurisdiction.

The Black Civil Rights Movement And Zionism
The author explores Black America’s historical relationships with – and opposition to – Zionism, from W.E.B. DuBois to the demobilization of the Black Freedom Movement. “King’s April 4, 1968 assassination came at a crossroad in his relations with Washington and American Zionism. He was publicly pro-Israel but met with [Stokely] Carmichael against Johnson’s war and for King’s Poor Peoples Campaign.”  Read more...
