Civil unions in Illinois: New law begins today

This is a historic day in Illinois.

For the first time, same-sex couples will be able to get a civil union license in the state, giving them hundreds of rights that, up until today, had been reserved for heterosexual married couples.

Beginning at 8 a.m., the Rock Island County Clerk’s office will be ready, officials say.  Read more...
